One of the most popular pieces of software is Audacity, which you can download for free from here.
You'll also want to download the LAME.DLL
Another free piece of software mentioned is TagScanner to help with ID3 tags.

I really love the DwM roundtable podcast. I have been interested in starting a podcast i've just been hesitant with all the technical stuff. You have really helped me with that. But what about the websites??? It seems like you are using blogger for this website but what if you want a real website??? I think this would be a good topic for the roundtable.
